Reason(s) you are seeking a seat on the BOE (200 words or less):
My years of service on the Board of Education have been one of the most fulfilling and passionate experiences in my life. It all started with my commitment to ensure that students in our district received an educational experience to prepare them to be productive, contributing members to their community and society in general. It is my personal give-back to the schools and community that enriched my life.
I support the Board focus on graduates who have the skills and knowledge to meet the challenges of a complex society, of a global citizen, and of a polarized society. Besides academics, these include good listening skills, problem analysis, team-based problem solving, empathy, and appreciation of diversity in people and cultures. Our mission is clear- "students are the center of all we do."
What will I bring to continuing Board service? I pledge to be fearless in confronting tough challenges for the district, to maintain a collegiate approach to good decision making, to respect all ideas, to keep a delicate balance of district programs with available financial resources, and to strive continuously for excellence in the Corning - P.P. School District.
