DIRECTOR OF TRANSPORTATION

Background

The Corning-Painted Post Area School District, a system of approximately 4,400 pupils, is located in the southern tier of New York State. The area that it serves is comprised of almost 35,000 people. The leading industries in the area are Corning Incorporated,

Siemens Energy, and tourism. The District has earned the reputation of providing an excellent educational opportunity for its students.

Six elementary schools, one middle school and one senior high school make up the district. Historically, the community has always given the school system excellent support.

Position Description

The Director of Transportation will assume district-wide responsibility for overseeing the operation of the transportation system of the school district and will be directly responsible to the Assistant Superintendent for School Operations.

Primary responsibilities include

• Establishes routes to be followed by various drivers

• Prepares time schedules for buses

• Supervises service, maintenance and repair of all school district vehicles

• Writes specifications for all new vehicles and equipment

• Assists in the preparation of State Transportation reports and maps of bus routes

• Resolves disciplinary problems with personnel

• Supervises and evaluates all Bus Garage staff

• Coordinates with bus contractors

Position Qualifications

Must possess a valid NYS Class B Commercial Driver License

(1) Hold the Civil Service title of Transportation Supervisor; or

(2) Be on the current Transportation Supervisor list in Steuben County; or

(3) Possess a current NYS SDA or SDL certification (experience with Transportation preferred)

Starting Date

On or about January 16, 2025

Starting Salary

Minimum starting salary of $90,000
