Budget Summary
The annual Corning-Painted Post Area School District Budget Vote and School Board Election is slated for Tuesday, May 17, 2022. The proposed budget for 2022-23 is $122,844,885, which is a 4.01 percent budget-to-budget increase from 2021-22. This proposal will result in a 2.65 percent tax levy increase, which is within the state-assigned tax cap. The estimated full value tax rate would remain the same at $22.85. This number is subject to change based on finalized assessment rolls. Please note that polling hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Feel free to call Karen Dutcher, District Clerk, at 936-3704, ext. 1001 with any questions. A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. in the District Office, 165 Charles Street, Painted Post, NY. Voters will elect four members to the Board of Education. The three candidates with the highest number of votes will serve three-year terms beginning July 1, 2022 and expiring on June 30, 2025. The candidate with the fourth highest vote will serve a one year and forty-four day term commencing May 18, 2022 and expiring June 30, 2023. Voting Information
Voter Qualifications
A qualified voter is a U.S. citizen at least 18 years of age and a resident of the district for at least 30 days prior to the vote.
Absentee Ballots
Unable to Vote in Person? You may obtain an absentee ballot application and absentee ballot by contacting Karen Dutcher, District Clerk, at 936-3704, ext. 1001. An absentee ballot application must be completed and returned to the clerk prior to receiving an absentee ballot. If the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, the application must be received at least seven business days prior to the election. In order for the vote to count, completed absentee ballots must be returned either in person or by mail no later than 5:00 p.m. on election day.

The following propositions will appear on the May 17, 2022 ballot:
Proposition No. 1 – Annual Budget Shall the annual budget of the Corning City School District for the fiscal year 2022-2023 in the amount of $122,844,885, be adopted?
Proposition No. 2 – Purchase of Buses and Vehicles Shall the Bond Resolution of the City School District of the City of Corning, New York, entitled: “Bond Resolution of the City School District of the City of Corning, New York adopted March 16, 2022, authorizing the acquisition of various school buses and vehicles; stating the estimated total cost thereof is $694,000; appropriating said amount therefor; and authorizing the issuance of $694,000 serial bonds of said District to finance said appropriation,” be approved?
Proposition No. 3 – Southeast Steuben County Library Section 259 Vote Shall the sum of Eight Hundred and Eighty-Eight Thousand, Four Hundred and Fifty-Six Dollars ($888,456) be raised by annual levy of a tax upon the taxable property within the Corning-Painted Post Area School District for the purpose of funding the Southeast Steuben County Library, be approved?
Board Member Election Voters will elect four (4) members of the Board of Education: the three candidates with the highest number of votes will each serve a three (3) year term commencing July 1, 2022 and expiring on June 30, 2025. The candidate with the fourth highest number of votes will serve a one year and forty-four day (1 year and 44 days) term commencing on May 18, 2022 and expiring on June 30, 2023.
