The Office of Racial Equality and Social Unity (ORESU) of Corning Incorporated works to support the development of a more equitable and inclusive school community where all students thrive. ORESU created the Equity Catalyst Award last school year to recognize individuals that go above and beyond their roles to advance equity within their school and district community.
Debbie Fishbeck, Corning Incorporated DEI Education Coordinator, attended a CPP Middle School faculty meeting to present the award to two individuals at the middle school. She said, “Today we are presenting the Equity Catalyst Award to two educators who embody equity-minded principles. Congratulations to the 2023 recipients of the Equity Catalyst Award – Andrew Orright and Tricia Barber!”
Mr. Orright is a 7th grade French teacher and Ms. Barber is a school social worker. Included with the award was a $250 donation to the middle school’s Pride Club (they are co-advisors of the club) on behalf of the Office of Racial Equality and Social Unity. Ms. Fishbeck said, “Andrew and Tricia, thank you for all that you do to lead for equity, both in public and behind the scenes. Congratulations on being named an Equity Catalyst!”
