The second grade students at Winfield Elementary had an opportunity to donate $100 to our local Habitat for Humanity through the Community Foundation. This activity was the culmination of second grade's new Social Studies Unit, "What Makes Me Become We." Caitlin Strickler visited the classes and taught the students about philanthropy and led them through a filtering process to find a group that needed support in our community. Principal Mr. Sinko said, “The students were thrilled to be ‘doing good’ during this holiday season!”

Retired CPP Business teacher/Dean Mr. Mike Sheffer recently presented to CPPHS Business classes on the topic of financial literacy. He talked to students about how financial decisions they make now can affect their future, understanding debt, student loans, credit and investing. He took them through an app-based (Troutwood) exercise on their phones that showed how investing at a young age can result in financial security down the road.
